It is official and the countdown has started.... Cypress Gardens has been purchased by Merlin Entertainments and Legoland Florida will be the newest theme park to hit the Orlando area. Florida's oldest theme park has been struggling for years to keep up with the Disney's and Universals of this world and this announcement should help the area attract more visitors than ever before. This new Legoland is promising to be the largest Legoland in the World and the park is expected to open in late 2011.

The location is over an hours drive from Orlando which is already home to some of the worlds largest and best theme parks. Walt Disney World Resort
Florida is home to 4 amazing theme parks, 2 water parks, golf courses, indoor entertainment facilities and many hotel resorts with built-in fun parks and water zones. Universal Orlando Resort is another big attraction and this Hi-Tech resort is split into two amazing theme parks - Universal Studios and Islands Of Adventure.
Legoland will not only have strong competition from these named attractions but it will also have to go up against Seaworld, Discovery Cove, Busch Gardens in Tampa and many more great attractions in the Orlando area. As the second largest theme park company in the world (after Disney) Merlin will know exactly what they have to do to make this park a success.
